Temporary tattoos for fun and fashion

However, in the past few years such tattoos have emerged as a fashion statement for men and women across the globe. Indian henna is considered the best option for temporary tattoos because of its herbal nature and the quick and easy method of application. Henna is also believed to have some therapeutic and antiseptic properties.

Henna temporary tattoos and their roots: Henna: The Best Way To Do Temporary Tattoos

Henna has been used to decorate the body and hair for a long time and finds its roots in ancient Egypt. Traveling from Egypt to India and other parts of Asia, henna’s popularity has now spread to the Western nations.

Initially used by the Egyptians to stain the fingers and toes of pharaohs before mummification, henna is now being used more and more as a beauty product. In several countries, such as India and Turkey, henna is even used to condition the hair and colour nails. Considered to be lucky, Indian henna is applied on the palms of the hands for weddings and auspicious occasions. Intricate henna designs have become quite a craze amongst people of all generations.

In recent years, several innovative henna-based cosmetic products have been launched. Henna-based eyeliners, lipsticks, lip gloss, lip balm and nail paints are much in demand in the UK and the US.

Advantages of Henna temporary tattoos

Henna is the best option for temporary tattoos not only because of its ease of application but also because it is a natural product. It is totally free of chemicals and therefore does not harm the body or the skin in any way. Indian henna has been used on the palms of the hands for centuries for its cooling properties that help cope with hot summers.

Not only does the henna tattoo allow quick application, it can also fade away quickly with repeated washing. This means that you can have something new to show friends and family each time you meet them. You can choose to apply an elaborate tattoo for special occasions with the confidence that it will fade before it can affect your professional appearance when you are back at work.

Henna tattoos also match the benefits offered by other temporary tattoos. Henna products are available in several colours now and are environmentally safe. Products, such as Henna Pens, can be used to make any kind of designs with ease. In fact, now the henna is being used in various other cosmetic products such as eyeliners, lipsticks and even skin gels.

Some people are allergic to henna so it is a good idea to test first before using.

Temporary henna tattoos have become quite the rage in recent times.

However, henna has been around for a long time and has been used by Indian and African women for its colouring and nourishing properties.

History of the Henna Tattoo

In fact, the beginnings of the use of henna can be traced back thousands of years to ancient Egypt. It is only over the past decade or so that temporary tattoos have emerged as the hottest accessory in the West. The absence of chemicals and temporary colour are the main advantages of a henna tattoo.

Egyptian roots of the Henna Tattoo

The Henna plant traces its roots to Egypt, from where it was brought as a gift for the Queen Mumtaz in India. The Mughals then encouraged the usage of henna as a beauty product and a decorative application on the skin, especially at the time of weddings. The history of the henna tattoo dates back nearly 5,000 years, when the Egyptians used them on their hands, hair and nails. Even the fingers and toes of Pharaohs were stained with henna before mummification. Henna is also believed to be a symbol of good luck and is applied before any auspicious event in various countries, such as India, Turkey, Iraq and Saudi Arabia.

Henna tattoo and its advantages
This tall shrub like plant grows in hot and humid climates and is generally found in Egypt, India, Africa and the Middle Eastern countries. The leaves of the Henna plant are ground into a powder, which is then made into a paste that colours the skin in a rich shade of mahogany.

The foremost advantage of using Henna is that the colour is temporary and fades away quickly. So for people who hate the thought of having tattoos that require piercing of the skin and are most often permanent, henna offers an attractive and easy opportunity. Henna tattoos are not only temporary tattoos, but can be applied quickly and in various designs. Henna has been an inexpensive way of adding to one’s beauty. It allows people to add exotic designs on their body at very little cost.

Henna has been known to have medicinal qualities as well. In Ayurvedic therapy, Henna is used as an anti-irritant and antiseptic for various skin allergies, heat rashes and to cool the body during hot summers. Due to its cooling properties, Henna is used in lotions and ointments for application on skin inflammations and even burns. Henna is also known to be a deodorant.

Henna tattoos and varied designs
Different kinds of henna tattoo designs are in vogue in countries such as Morocco, India and the Middle East. While African designs are generally geometric in nature, Indian designs are more floral and ornate. Celtic designs are based on intricate pictures and animal designs and give a mysterious look. Even Chinese and Japanese designs have become popular for the application of temporary tattoos.

These designs can be traced on or copied very easily with Henna Pens. It is as easy as drawing on paper. Several other henna based cosmetic products, such as eyeliners and lipsticks, are also available.

Mehndi Party for the Bride to Be Wedding, Bachelorette Party …

Some people even wait until the next morning before peeling off the design to ensure a darker stain – I even slept with plastic bags on my hands, I like being decorated. Never wash the dried henna off with water

The Fruits Of Marriage

So I was quite looking forward to seeing what the Moroccan designs would be like. Would they use a template? Would they make it up? Or did they have an extensive and historical knowledge of beautiful patterns for wedding henna

Her Hands

The color of henna is derived from the ground seeds of the henna plant… applying the paste to create the design is an art… one has to be very patient… and the henna has to be left on for at least 8 hours to get achieve the right color … … Thanks for all your kind comments. I plan to share a few more pictures of the wedding as well as the wild life in Kiawah. The color of henna gradually fades off in 3-4 weeks.
